Now hiring a Truck/Trailer Mechanic in Chambersburg, PA

Job Description

Shift: 1st shift Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm

Pay Rate: $22-$29/hour based on experience

As a Truck/Trailer Mechanic, you will ensure that equipment is available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance, and carrying out necessary repairs. Your role is crucial in maintaining the functional condition of vehicles by addressing operator complaints, conducting inspections, and repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions. You will also verify vehicle serviceability through test drives and system adjustments, comply with state vehicle requirements, and maintain accurate records of services and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test vehicles to ensure equipment availability.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and complete necessary repairs.
• Address operator complaints and conduct inspections to maintain vehicle functionality.
• Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions by replacing parts and components.
• Verify vehicle serviceability through test drives and adjustments.
• Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing systems and completing inspections.
• Maintain vehicle appearance through cleaning and washing.
• Record service and repairs using PC-based software.
• Ensure shop equipment operates by following instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of heavy-duty mechanical experience.
• Ownership of appropriate tools for vehicle and trailer testing and repairs.
• Knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
• Proficiency in electrical and hydraulic systems.
• General mechanical skills.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Maintaining a satisfactory driving record.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
