Job Description

Job Summary

Provide diagnostic and surgical services to the patients of the Charleston Area Medical Center, Inc and its affiliates per the terms of the employment contract.

Responsibilities
• To provide care to CAMC patients in the field of Pediatric Surgery in compliance with the highest standards of medical art and science, and within the ethical standards of conduct as applies to such fiduciary relationships. Such care will be delivered in the appropriate setting and coordinated with the staff present at each site. The physician will take the lead in all patient care issues and will be ultimately responsible for the outcome of the encounter.
• With regard to issues of clinical practice the physician with will report to the departmental medical director; in all other matters he will report to the clinic/departmental administrator, if other than the medical director.
• Provide pediatric surgery services at CAMC
• Participate in Pediatric Surgery on-Call rotations
• Provide post operative care for patients upon which physician has performed surgery
• Administratively and daily operations, Physician will report to VP, Ambulatory Services, or designee, including Physician Administrator. For practice and professional matters, the Physician will be subject to the authority of the CMO.
• Employee will maintain active status (category I) with regards to clinical privileges at CAMC
• Must be able to relate appropriately with patients, staff, corporate management, medical staff and co-workers. Managed care knowledge helpful. Must be a team player. Must remain current in medical/surgical knowledge as well as applicable legal and regulatory issues.

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

• Medical Degree (Required) Education: Medical degree board certified/eligible. American Board of General Surgery - PediatricExperience: No requirement beyond residency
