Job Overview Public health at the University of Cincinnati is a dynamic, interdisciplinary field that spans across the College of Medicine, College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology. There are also a growing number of embedded concentrations and dual degree programs and initiatives spanning multiple colleges university wide. The new UC Center for Public Health unifies these efforts under a collaborative framework of shared governance. The Center serves as a central hub that eliminates fragmented efforts, streamlines decision-making, and fosters synergy among stakeholders. It will create a strong, cohesive identity for public health at UC, enhancing internal coordination, community engagement, institutional visibility, and national competitiveness.
The Center for Public Health Is seeking a Program Director to support the strategic development and implementation of global health initiatives across the College of Medicine (COM) and the Center for Public Health, while also serving as a critical liaison between University of Cincinnati and its Tanzanian and international partners. This individual will initially coordinate and support global health programs under the Office of Global Health within the College of Medicine, and when the new Center for Public Health is launched, the position will report directly to the Center Director.
Essential Functions 0.5 FTE related to the Office of Global Health: - Working with the Co-Directors of Global Health in the COM, establish the Office of Global Health in the Center for Public Health.
- Serve as a first point of contact for resources and information related to global health activities in the Academic Health Center.
- Create and maintain a website for the Office of Global Health that catalogs the global health activities across the University and provides resources for students and faculty interested in global health.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for faculty members engaging in global health activities.
- Coordinate and organize teaching opportunities and activities between partners.
- Schedule Global Health Advisory Council meetings quarterly or at the recommendation of the Global Health Co-Directors.
- Support global health activities within the College of Medicine and the Center for Public Health.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with other university partners engaged in global health programming, including UC International and Globe Med.
0.5 FTE related to collaboration with Village Life in Tanzania: - Manage and coordinate all UC-affiliated trips to Tanzania, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and safety standards.
- Arrange student, staff and faculty Tanzania travel logistics, including schedules and purchasing of flights
- Facilitate the expansion of global health partnerships beyond the Academic Health Center (AHC), including collaboration with: College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS), College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), Lindner College of Business (LCB), UC Blue Ash (UCBA), UC Clermont College (UCC), College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH), Graduate College, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), UC International.
- Provide operational oversight and coordination of UC's involvement in global and public health programming in Tanzania at Roche Health Center and Reproductive Child Health Center (RCHC).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with UC's global health mission and local community needs.
- Support faculty leads in fostering and managing strategic relationships between UC and the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS).
- Oversight for this 0.5 FTE will be coordinated with Dr. Chris Lewis, Volunteer Professor in the UC Department of Family and Community Medicine, and Founder of Village Life.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree in public health, global health, international development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in program coordination or management.
Additional Qualifications Considered - Master's degree in public health, global health, or a related field.
- Experience working with international partners or institutions.
- Experience working in an academic health or higher education setting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders across disciplines and geographies.
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally, particularly to Tanzania.
