The Production Planner - Scheduler role will perform material planning activities in the Production Planning function of customer demand fulfillment to ensure total customer satisfaction within required timeline, quality standards, and total cost constraints. Key responsibilities include checking inventory availability prior to firming/releasing work orders using system queries and reports; providing lead times to the Customer Service team regarding Laird Promise Date for customer demand fulfillment; scheduling department/area production based on MRP outputs triggered by demand inputs such as sales orders, customer schedules, sales forecasts; effectively managing inventory levels to meet customer orders; developing, improving, and monitoring reporting processes & systems to control supply chain functions; collaborating with Materials Management team to optimize supply chain and logistics solutions to maximize On Time Delivery to Customer request and Laird promise while minimizing inventory investment; making recommendations to management regarding improvements in supply chain processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance; adhering to Laird quality and safety systems/standards; and working on continuous improvement of quality, cost, delivery of product family and/or equipment reliability. Qualifications include BS or BA from accredited 4-year college preferred; 2 years of scheduling & planning experience in manufacturing preferred; demonstrated experience in production/materials planning/MRP required, QAD preferred; good communication skills; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; strong computer skills including Microsoft Windows programs with emphasis on Excel; understanding and experience with integrated manufacturing software systems; and ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
