Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: Tucson, AZ (with travel across Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado)

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and Repair: Perform on-site diagnostics and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders). Conduct repairs and replace components as needed.
• Maintenance: Execute scheduled and preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment service life.
• Inspection: Conduct regular inspections for wear, damage, or potential mechanical failures. Ensure all equipment complies with safety and operational standards.
• Documentation: Keep accurate maintenance and repair records, parts usage logs, and service reports. Communicate critical findings to project management.
• Parts Management: Identify, order, and manage inventory for repair and maintenance parts to maintain efficient operations.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety standards and company protocols. Promote a strong safety culture across all job sites.
• Team Collaboration: Partner with operators, project managers, and fellow mechanics to coordinate repairs and minimize project disruption. Mentor junior mechanics when needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics, automotive repair, or related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in heavy equipment repair and maintenance within the civil construction industry .
• Travel: Must be able to travel to job sites throughout Tucson and surrounding areas .

Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems .
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in remote or field conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving , communication , and customer service skills.
• Proven attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and project success.
