Job Description

Position Summary Serves as a key member of the project team, delivering readily available and actionable data to inform and influence team decision-making, and driving better patient care and outcomes. Aggregates and analyzes healthcare data, including quality, patient, and financial data, to support departmental reporting needs. Researches, designs, develops, implements, and maintains reporting and analytical facilities within the hospital's clinical and/or financial systems. Provides analytical and technical guidance to clients. Key Responsibilities Researches, designs, develops, implements, and maintains reporting and analytical facilities in the context of the hospital's clinical and/or financial systems. Collaborates with clinical and administrative staff to ensure reports are timely, accurate, meaningful, and interpretable. Ensures analyses and reports provide detailed, specific data on performance across individuals, teams, programs, divisions, and the department. Generates reports from various internal and external sources, including benchmarking databases like PHIS, PACT, and specialty-specific registries. Acts as a subject matter expert for visualization tools (e.g., Microstrategy, Tableau) and techniques for insightful data display for business decision-makers. Builds new databases as needed and maintains a validated, accurate data repository to ensure information availability. Advises on data collection and management system development. Defines specifications for key data elements, collection procedures, and database integrity. Improves and maintains the environment for tasks and applications. Analyzes data and generates reports on performance indicators, utilizing statistical process control or other epidemiological techniques to provide trend data. Assists the team in interpreting data and offers data-driven recommendations. Creates new benchmarks using large datasets, both internal (e.g., patient registries) and external (e.g., PHIS, national/international learning collaboratives). Supports publishing performance data to establish benchmarks where none exist. Maintains knowledge of biostatistical techniques to collaborate effectively with biostatisticians and epidemiologists on data analysis. Participates in the regular ‘Report Development’ Users Group within CHB and adheres to technical standards and guidelines. Education Minimum qualifications include a high school education; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience At least 4 years of experience using Data Analytics tools. High proficiency in SQL syntax and coding practices. Expertise in dimensional data modeling concepts used in data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics applications. Ability to translate clinical or operational reporting needs into technical solutions based on existing data, structures, and query functionalities.
