Position Summary This is a full-time position involving teaching high school German classes levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and AP. We are looking to fill this position immediately and for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year. Specific Duties Include Instructing students in subject content along with reading and grading student work Demonstrating a high level of responsiveness to students Serving as an adviser to a group of upper school students Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment Maintain regular communication with students and their parents regarding progress Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to implement common course syllabi and assessments Required Skills Experience with proficiency-based instruction in an immersive environment preferred Have a working knowledge and experience teaching high school German Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy Ability to leverage technology, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Google apps, language lab software and interactive whiteboard technology A solid understanding of learning challenges as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support such Strong organizational and classroom management skills Minimum Job Qualifications Undergraduate degree in German or Foreign Language Education from an accredited institution of higher learning; master’s degree in German or education preferred; native or near native fluency in German 3+ years of successful teaching high school German preferred Independent school experience preferred, but not required The German Teacher, Upper School position is an exempt, 10-month position.
