Description

At Leidos, we deliver innovative solutions through the efforts of our talented people who are dedicated to our customers’ success. Our dedicated Defense Group employees are solving critical challenges across the globe. Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide the way we do business.

Leidos currently has an opportunity for a talented Electrical Designer within our Maritime Systems Division (MSD) in Long Beach, MS. Leidos MSD develops and deploys advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, other governmental agencies and commercial clients.

This is an opportunity to assist the development, demonstration, production and integration of advanced systems using your knowledge and experience in electrical system design. This position encompasses a range of possible skill sets and may require occasional travel to and coordination with engineering activities at other Leidos facilities and government facilities. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, attention to detail and accuracy in design work are a “must have” for this position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for buildings and similar structures including power and control signals
  • Perform load calculations, determine electrical requirements, select and specify electrical components, materials, and equipment
  • Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal electrical codes and standards
  • Prepare and review detailed plans, specifications, reports and other documentation for electrical installations
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams during installation of electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design issues
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed and accurate designs
  • Perform cost estimates and assist in budget preparation for electrical projects

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a similar field
  • 2-4 years of experience in electrical design
  • Previous experience in designing electrical systems for commercial and industrial projects
  • Experience designing and working with single-phase and 3-phase AC power
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks for electrical design and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance
  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills as well as strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical integration of electrical systems
  • Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant regulations
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures related to electrical work

At Leidos, we don’t want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, “what’s next?” before the dust settles on “what’s now.”

If you’re already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2… good. You’ll fit right in.

Original Posting: October 7, 2025

For U.S. Positions: While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.

Pay Range: Pay Range $67,600.00 - $122,200.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
