Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety
- Develop, administer, and maintain training programs related to employee safety.
- Coordinate with contractors or governmental inspectors to conduct and/or coordinate facility safety inspections and related repairs.
- Champion the compliance of federal, state, and local regulations such as OSHA, DOT and NFPA for the facility.
- Facilitate all safety meetings/training and documentation to ensure employees receive the company’s required safety training.
- Perform job hazard analysis to identify hazards within the workplace. Coach and guide employees and management regarding safety compliance concerns and safe product applications.
- Investigate safety incidents involving company property or employees. Prepare documentation to ensure adequate investigation and preservation of evidence.
- Coordinate with medical providers to facilitate medical/hearing exams and transportation of injured or ill employees to medical facilities.
- Manage or assist with OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
- Create and administer the emergency response procedures for facility.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Environmental
- Develop, administer, and maintain training programs related to environmental compliance and hazardous materials use & waste.
- Coordinate with governmental inspectors to conduct environmental inspections across the facility.
- Champion the compliance of federal, state, and local regulations such as EPA/ADEQ for the facility.
- Investigate employee exposure to hazardous materials or air pollutants.
- Develop & maintain accurate records regarding shipments or disposal of hazardous waste.
- Maintain knowledge of regulations concerning environmental emissions.
- Create and maintain all environmental inspection logs/data.
- Recommend and coordinate the development of programs needed to comply with hazardous materials regulations.
- Assist in designing, preparing, implementing, and maintaining an environmental plan.
- Ensure environmental compliance reports are filed with the proper agency in a timely manner.
- Perform plantwide environmental inspections as required.
- Perform root cause analysis of environmental non-compliance and formulate plans to correct.
- Determine areas of improvement to reduce environmental waste/cost.
- Coordinate with contractors/vendors to ensure timely transport and/or disposal of waste.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Ability to understand and apply government regulations related to safety (OSHA), environmental compliance (EPA/ADEQ) and hazardous materials.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS, industrial hygiene, industrial engineering, or related field, or 4 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment leading safety & environmental programs, initiatives, and compliance.
- General but proficient knowledge of OSHA and EPA/ADEQ inspection and reporting requirements.
- Working knowledge of National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) rules.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office/360 (Teams, OneNote, SmartSheet, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Working knowledge of hazardous materials regulations including RCRA, EPA, and PHMSA.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Having one of the following certifications (or similar) is preferred, but not required:
- CDS - Certified Director of Safety
- CSP - Certified Safety Professional
- CIH - Certified Industrial Hygienist
- OSHA 30
- Hazwoper 40
